Hey Browns fans! This is Trent Richardson checking in with you from training camp. Camp has been great so far. Just to be able to have the pads on again and bounce off tackles definitely adds to the fun. I mean, we’re not just playing two-hand touch anymore. We’ve got everybody hitting and it feels good. We love the contact and that is why we play the sport. As a running back, I like to use a variety of moves to get past the defenders. I like to run people over and I love to shake people and make them miss. I love to stiff arm someone and as long as I get past them, then it’s good for me.
One of the keys so far has been the veteran leadership on this team. All of the running backs on this team have been mentoring me. A couple of other guys who have been helpful are Josh Cribbs, D’Qwell Jackson and Ahtyba Rubin. I talk to Josh a lot, he is a great dude. I talk to “Big” Jackson; I call him “Big” Jackson because he is a big, tough linebacker. He’s taken me under his wing and he makes sure I keep my head level and makes sure that I stay grateful. Ahtyba is a great leader and he’s been here for a while. He is also from Pensacola, Florida so we talk all of the time and he’s taken me under his wing as well. Honestly, a lot of the defensive linemen and other defensive players have taken me under their wings and they try to make sure that I’m doing good and taking care of business between the white lines.
