Hey Browns fans!
It’s Brandon, and I wanted to give you an update on how my first week at training camp has been going.
I think guys were chomping at the bit to start playing and competing again. I think on day one there was a little rust on everyone, so I think that once we knocked that off we were ready to compete.
Today, we put on the pads, and guys were really flying around and having a lot of fun. Those defensive guys love throwing the pads and thudding up. I think today was probably the best practice of the three so far, but we still have a long way to go.
Since the OTA’s I’ve really felt better and more confident in the way things have progressed. That first day of OTA’s my head was spinning. I was still learning the offense and still getting comfortable with the guys, learning what guys can run certain routes, and we were all learning together. Now, we can all function, we know our assignments, so now it’s just about executing and being able to take care of the football. I think we’ve come a long way since the first day of OTAs. We look like two totally different teams, so that’s just a testament to not only our coaching staff, but our players. We are continuing to grow and build as a team.
I think for me going against guys like Joe Haden, Dimitri (Patterson) and Sheldon (Brown) in the secondary is great. I threw some balls yesterday that they are breaking on and making great plays. In college, those are easy completions, first downs and you’re not even thinking twice, whereas here, these guys can really play on defense. It’s good for me and it’ll force me to become a better player.
It’s good to have teammates that you can count on during this process. I think that everyone has been great in helping me as a rookie to adjust. Quarterback wise, Seneca (Wallace) has been great, and really been helpful. With D’Qwell (Jackson) being the middle linebacker, I’ll ask him a lot of questions. He sees my eyes and sees what I’m doing pre-snap. He helps me if he thinks I’m tipping something to the defense or he’ll help me adjust something to make my process a little bit smoother where I’m hiding things better. Those are two guys that have been in the league for awhile that are veteran guys that I can rely on, and they’ve been extremely helpful. Thanks for all of your support thus far, I really appreciate it. You guys are everything, and I couldn’t do what I love to do without the love and support of you, the fans.
