What’s up Browns fans? This is James Michael Johnson of the Cleveland Browns checking in for my rookie training camp blog. Since the second day we’ve been in full pads so it has been popping in practice. I’m trying to run around and get my spot on the team somehow, trying to work my way up the depth chart. I’ve been making some good plays, had two interceptions and a nice tackle on the goal line the other day. Everything is kind of slowing down a little bit.
When I first got out here everything was moving real fast. I felt like I was a little slow with my reads, but the more and more I practice, the better I got at it. Just trying to keep up with the plays we’re putting in.
We’re putting in installs everyday so I just have to stay on top of my game, but overall it’s a big difference from college. Just the intensity of everything, the amount of focus you have to have on every rep and you can’t take a play off because somebody it trying to take your spot. It’s way different from college. You do have more time to work on stuff because there is no school involved, so that’s way better and I am just having fun with it.
I am enjoying everything here. The players are cool, the coach’s are cool, so I am just trying to get better at every little thing I can possibly do. It’s a great opportunity. We have a lot of talent at my position. There’s a big battle with the rookie linebackers coming and trying to make the team, but the veterans are helping us out. Scott Fujita, (Chris) Gocong, D’Qwell (Jackson), Kaluka (Maiava) are helping us out a whole lot. It’s a great little thing we have going on. All of the rookies and vets are collaborating and helping each other out so it’s a great thing. That’s it for my rookie training camp blog. I will check back in with y’all later.
