Throughout training camp, Shawn Lauvao, a rookie offensive lineman for the Browns will keep fans up-to-date on his experiences in Berea.
Hey Browns fans, it’s Shawn Lauvao. This is day four of training camp; it’s been a good experience.
Coaches are throwing a lot of stuff at us and everybody is coming in ready to work. The biggest thing is we have a recovery day today. We still have meetings, so we still have a pretty busy day in terms of getting back and just trying to heal from whatever kind of ailments you may have.
Coach (Mangini) really made it a point for us to take care of our bodies. We are doing some types of contrast, which is like pull work in terms of hot and cold. We are also doing massages, yoga and just some active release in terms of movement stuff. It’s been real helpful in helping guys recover faster and being able to be that much better. Other than that, it’s just another day of work.
These first couple of days, there has been a lot of install so coaches are really making it a point to make sure you know everything you are doing. Whether that be reads, knowing the different formations, knowing your calls, just knowing the different terms and code words we use for our hurry-up offense: two-minute, four-minute, speed-ball, red-ball, just everything overall.
They just want you to have a really good understanding and base of what is going on all of the time. Every day is an opportunity. The biggest thing is that it’s a lot more technical and guys really focus, in terms of the mental aspect as well as the technical aspect of the game. There’s a lot more attention to detail, it’s pretty advanced.
Thanks for stopping by, I’ll talk to you guys again soon.
